FLOWERS MADE WITH LEFTOVER CARDSTOCK

Sorry, I haven't posted a card this week. With it being summer I have grandchildren staying with me off and on. You know how that goes - busy-busy-busy, but fun. So, I was doing some organizing and came across the flowers I made in a class and thought I would share them with you. These are the first I made and they are not fantastic, but they are pretty good and realistic.

I don't know if any of you have heard of Susan Cockburn, but she has written several books and teaches in Seattle. She actually flew to Temple, TX to teach a class. If you get a chance check out her books. One of them is titled Paper Bouquet. She teaches how to make realistic looking flowers with punches and your cardstock. The picture above is supposed to be a Gardenia, Anemone and a Rose. You have to punch each petal individually, as well as a few other punches like the center and base and leaves. After you punch everything out you have to glue and assemble. I had to punch 20-24 petals for the small rose, then the leaves. It is shaded, but you can't see it very well in the picture. Oh, I forgot. After you punch, you have to cup, shape, mold, roll and then assemble. Right now it is very time consuming, but they are very very realistic and 3D and most of all you can use matching cardstock. It takes approx. 2-3 hours to make one rose. I would think once you make more of them and get the technique down it would go faster. If you have the chance, take the class it is alot of fun and Susan is great.

Please let me know if you like for me to share this type of info with you. I would love to hear from you.

These flowers look stunning, but I don't know if I'd have the patience to spend 2-3 hours for each one!
